Courtney Love Slams Taylor Swift As 'Not Important,' 'Not Interesting As An Artist'

Courtney Love Slams Taylor Swift As 'Not Important,' 'Not Interesting As An Artist'

In a recent interview with The Standard promoting her BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Sounds series, "Courtney Love's Women," Courtney Love slammed Taylor Swift, saying "she's not important" and "not interesting as an artist."

"Taylor is not important," Love said. "She might be a safe space for girls, and she's probably the Madonna of now, but she's not interesting as an artist."

It's not known why Love has a contrarian view about Swift now after having wished her a happy birthday in December 2021 via Facebook. She called Swift an "aspirational huge role model for many young women" at the time. The post also featured a photo of Love and her "occasional hair twin/neighbor."

Courtney also spoke about Lana Del Rey and Madonna during the recent interview with The Standard.

"I haven't liked Lana since she covered a John Denver song, and I think she should really take seven years off," she said. "Up until 'Take Me Home Country Roads' I thought she was great. When I was recording my new album, I had to stop listening to her as she was influencing me too much."

About Madonna, Love said, "I don't like her and she doesn't like me. I loved Desperately Seeking Susan, but for the city of New York as much as her."

John Oates Says He's 'Moved On' From Hall & Oates

John Oates Says He's 'Moved On' From Hall & Oates

John Oates has revealed that after months of litigation with Daryl Hall, he is moving on from the band with which he has been a part for half-a-century.

Hall & Oates was an American pop rock duo formed in Philadelphia in 1970. Daryl Hall was generally the lead vocalist; John Oates primarily played the electric guitar and provided backing vocals. The two wrote most of the songs they performed.

They achieved their greatest fame from the mid-1970s to the late 1980s with a fusion of rock and roll, soul music, and rhythm and blues.

"As far as I'm concerned, I've moved on. I feel like I have a new lease on my creative life," Oates said in an interview with Rolling Stone.

However, he made it clear that he is always open for continuing his relationship with Hall as friends in the future.

Hall filed a lawsuit against Oates last November to block him from selling his share in the duo's publishing to Primary Wave Music. He won the legal fight by obtaining a temporary restraining order.

Despite the separation, Oates has only good words for Hall, calling him "an amazing individual."

"He is one of the great, great songwriters of all time, and without a doubt, one of the great singers of all time. I would never say anything negative about him," Oates said. "But we have a different strategy for our lives, and we have a different strategy for our business lives as well as our personal lives."

He added, "And that's that, so be it. We're old guys. We deserve to be allowed to do whatever we want to do."

Dua Lipa recently released a video for "Illusion," the third single from her upcoming album, Radical Optimism.

The music video, directed by Tanu Muino, shows Lipa alongside a slew of dancers, high divers and synchronized swimmers at the Piscina Municipal de Montjuïc in Barcelona, Spain.

Lipa co-wrote "Illusion" with Caroline Ailin, Danny L. Harle, Tobias Jesso Jr., and Kevin Parker. Harle and Parker co-produced the song.

The joke's on them, it's the fun of playing someone at their own game because ultimately you won't fall for an illusion."

Maggie Rogers Releases Third Studio Album 'Don't Forget Me'

Maggie Rogers' third studio album, Don't Forget Me, was released on Friday, April 12.

Along with the release of the album, the Grammy Award-nominated artist kicked off a week-long celebration that she dubbed "Box Office Week." It includes pop-up events, special shows taking place over the course of the week at intimate venues in four U.S. cities and a new round of Maggie's notable in-person ticketing.

"On the last album, Surrender, I decided to go old school and sell tickets in-person in an effort to reduce fees, combat bots and get tickets directly into the hands of fans," explains Rogers. "That process was so fun, this year I'm hosting 'Box Office Week,' where I've set some special prices for fans who want to come purchase tickets in person."

"Here's how it's going to work. from April 13th to April 20th, in every city where I'm playing an arena this fall, you can go to the local box office to choose your seats and buy your ticket for a special in-person price," she added. "In NYC, Philly, Boston, and Chicago, I'm going to be in person selling tickets directly to you at the box office. After the box office day festivities, I'll be playing a show that very same night in those four cities where me and my band will perform Don't Forget Me for the very first time."

Rogers co-produced her new album with Ian Fitchuk at Electric Lady Studios in New York City, writing eight of its 10 songs with him and penning two alone.

Speaking about the album, Rogers said, "I wanted to make an album that sounded like a Sunday afternoon".. "Worn in denim. A drive in your favorite car. No make up, but the right amount of lipstick. Something classic. The mohair throw and bottle of Whiskey in Joan Didion's motel room. An old corvette. Vintage, but not overly Americana. I wanted to make an album to belt at full volume alone in your car, a trusted friend who could ride shotgun and be there when you needed her."

Don't Forget Me is a follow-up to 2022's Surrender.

Taylor Swift's Catalog Returns To TikTok Ahead Of New Album

Taylor Swift's Catalog Returns To TikTok Ahead Of New Album

Taylor Swift's songs are back on TikTok a few days ahead of the release of her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, which is due out on April 19.

Several Swift songs, including "You Belong With Me," "Lover," "Cardigan," "Mirrorball," "Fearless (Taylor's Version)," "Cruel Summer," "Cardigan," "Style (Taylor's Version)," "Is It Over Now? (Taylor's Version)," "The Man" and "ME!" - were back on TikTok by Thursday (April 11), available for users to incorporate into their videos.

After Universal Music Group let its licensing agreement with TikTok lapse on January 31, due to the app's unwillingness to pay for the "fair value" of music, Swift's catalog was pulled from the app in February. UMG also cited other concerns such as AI and artist safety as the reasons for letting the agreement lapse.

In a letter to its artists on January 30 explaining the licensing spat, UMG wrote, "With respect to the issue of artist and songwriter compensation, TikTok proposed paying our artists and songwriters at a rate that is a fraction of the rate that similarly situated major social platforms pay."

TikTok countered that Universal was engaging in "false narrative and rhetoric." TikTok said, "It is sad and disappointing that Universal Music Group has put their own greed above the interests of their artists and songwriters."

It now seems TikTok has reached a separate deal with Swift who owns her masters and presumably would have the ability to strike her own arrangement. It is also said that with her new album, The Tortured Poets Department set to arrive on April 19, Swift is partnering with TikTok to promote the album.

There is no clarification as yet about the reappearance of Swift's songs on the app. Neither TikTok nor representatives for Swift have responded to requests for comment. UMG has not spoken about the move as well.
